When does Gears of Alvidon crank up and down?

Anytime Gears of Alvidon is the attacking armor any 6 rolled, or 1 rolled may effect the attack number for the following turns. After the initial attack, bombs and BLAST effects of crew do NOT have any effect on the attack value.

Note: You can declare bombs and BLAST effects prior to rolling your initial attack, which is a way to have more dice and therefore more chances to effect the attack value.

Duds: This action card can be used during the initial attack with Gears of Alvidon to turn all of the attacking dice to 1, which will crank up the attack by that many.
